GARFIELD -- The Garfield City Council is set to meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, at which time any interested and qualified candidates to fill the council vacancy for Ward 1, Position 2, are invited to present themselves.
A map of the Ward 1 geographical boundaries may be viewed at Flying R & F Feed, The Village Market, Garfield Post Office, City Hall and The Short Stop.
The position vacated by the resignation of long-time council member Malania Carter in April has been on the Council agenda repeatedly over the last several months.
Other items on the agenda, according to the mayor, are:
• Consideration of proposals for development of city website;
• Second reading of annexation ordinance from Glorie and John Oxford and Christal Allen;
• Lot split from Elkhorn Liquor approval recommended by Planning Commision;
• Consideration of Planning Commission recommendation of placement of manufactured home;
• Review of comments from public hearing concerning lien on Judith Chambers' property, North Wimpy Jones Road; and
• First reading of ordinance abolishing the ordinance that established privilege tax on sale of liquor.
