Summer is coming

Activities listed

I left the library on Thursday with a splitting headache and forgot a paper that I needed in order to write this column. Stopped by after a recycle stop and a visit to the Farmer's Market on Sunday afternoon. Imagine my surprise when I found the remains of someone's lunch -- a cardboard container, some French fries and a napkin on the bench out front. A couple of empty catsup packages were on the ground by the Nandina bushes -- less than a dozen steps from a large trash receptacle. Please feel free to use the bench but please dispose of any trash before you leave.

Reading Skills and Speed Reading Programs for children and adults are being offered this summer by the University of Central Arkansas. Programs meet once each week at NorthWest Community College in Bentonville. An information sheet is available at the library.

Also available at the library is information on some fun and educational programs for the children this summer. We can give you some printed information or you can use one of the public use computers to do your own research.

The finish line is in sight for the remodeling of the Quiet Room. The flooring has been laid. Still needed are some touch up and clean up and then we get to furnish it and use it. We are very anxious to show it off.

We are happy to welcome the new businesses that are opening in Pea Ridge. Building is continuing in some of the subdivisions with "Under Contract" signs on several new homes. We look forward to welcoming the new owners to Pea Ridge and, of course, to the library.

See you at the library!
