New athletic director to be named next week

A new athletic director is expected to be named next week, according to school superintendent Rick Neal.

The position was vacated when head football coach Tony Travis resigned to take the head football coaching position at Heritage. Travis was also the athletic director at Pea Ridge.

There were 38 applicants for the position with one coming from a Pea Ridge faculty member. Neal said the field was narrowed to four, but one of those dropped out. Three candidates were interviewed.

Neal said he plans to present his recommendation Monday night at the regular April School Board meeting.
