The TIMES of Northeast Benton County

A segment of Benton County property owners has been urged to attend a meeting this Saturday in Pea Ridge to discuss what an organizer calls unfair taxation. Mrs. Carole Robel maintains that the Quorum Court has created a new property tax category that targets rural landowners who own less than 11 acres. She said that she built her house last year on five acres and her first property tax bill was $750. This year, she said, it was reassessed under the new category and her tax doubled. Tax Assessor Shirley Sandlin was been invited to attend the meeting.
