Library full of information

Another Bikes, Blues and BBQ Festival has come and gone. It seemed that everywhere you went you could see and/or hear the sounds of bikes! Such a great way to help promote this section of our beautiful state not to mention the added revenue generated. I believe there are approximately 25 local charities that benefit from this event that drew a crow of approximately 400,000.

There was a section in the Sunday edition of the Northwest Arkansas Democrat Gazette titled Arkansas Road Trips and Fall Festivals. Mentioned in this article is the 32nd annual Timberfest in Sheridan Oct. 2-3; the Musicfest in El Dorado on the same date and the Brinkley Fall Fest Oct. 3. The Fall Festival Arts & Crafts Fair in Van Buren is Oct. 9-11; the Wiederkehr Wine Festival is on Oct. 10. Don't forget the 76th Arkansas State Fair in Little Rock. The newspaper article will be posted at the library for anyone wanting more information.

Hope some of you were able to get out to the re-enactment of the Civil War Battle of Pea Ridge over the weekend. The newspaper article covering this event can be read at the library. You can also use one of the library computers to view photos of this event on line.

Before you get in the car and head out to one or more of these events, come by the library and get a book from the free table or purchase a very reasonably priced book from our sale tables.

The new books I wrote about in last week's article are available for check-out. Unfortunately we do not yet have the new Lee Child book, "Make Me." I am hoping to make a trip to Rogers this week to purchase this and a few others.

Halloween is just around the corner and we are excited to have a fall display from McGarrah Farms. I am intrigued by all the different sizes, shapes and colors of the gourds. Be sure to spend a few minutes viewing this colorful offering. The Pumpkin Patch on Miser Road is now open and is a great place to take your children or grandchildren. Thank you to the McGarrah's for sharing this display with us.

The quiet room at the library is really getting the use now that school is back in session. It is nice to have parents bringing their children to the library for the Story Hour on Wednesdays. Some parents bring their children and spend an hour or more in the children's area reading and looking at books and visiting with other parents and children.

Now that the dental office is open next door to the library, the parking lot may get crowded. Please leave the spaces in front of their building for their patients. Feel free to park behind an employee's car on the east side of the building. The Ridge Church has also been very kind about library visitors parking in their lot.

See you at the library!
