What look is handsome?

We are all tired of U.S. Highway 62 being widened. The first construction man held up his hand in a stop signal. The second man, standing behind him 10 feet was waving me on. I stopped! Better safe than sorry! Number one man noticed that it was clear and within a big grin waved me on. My thought was gosh, he was good looking. almost handsome. About 30 years old, clean shaven, good posture, clothes hung well on him. My next thought was okay, number two man -- the scruffy look just doesn't do it. What does it take? Was Clark Gable handsome? No, not really. He looked like a slick gambler in the GWTW (Gone With the Wind) role. Is George Clooney? Maybe, a little. How about John Wayne? Yes, but I read one time that he spend a lot of time and effort perfecting that walk, stance and look. The women in my class at wellness center think Mark Harmon is. I prefer Scott Baluka because of those eyes. Hey, where am I going with this thinking? I said I'm old -- not dead!

An article last week on good luck caught my eye. It said, "If it's raining pudding, hold up your bowl!"

Also, that an apple tree is a double blessing; first is its bloom and then its fruit.

As I was digging in my purse for my elder pass to get in the ball game free, she called me by name and waved me through. Sitting on the bleachers, the memory came to me. As usual, the memory was too late to do any good, that my ticket was in the pocket of last Thursday night game clothes. Sure enough, I had washed it but limp and still useable. I've always been amazed at how clean money is after going through the water. Bills and coins alike.

Peggy Blaylock is back in her home and feeling much better.

John Miser is still at Bradford House in room 209. Viola Hzelwood tells me that his recuperation is very slow.

The ladies from both churches are invited to a fellowship pot luck at the parsonage on Sept. 21.

Was anyone as disappointed as I as about the ending of "Under the Dome?" I feel they should have stopped at the first season and or followed the book. Does anyone but me, eat pancakes for supper?

'Till next time.
