New books ready for reading

Fall officially started at 8:20 a.m. today! What happened the lazy days of summer? Seems as if those summer days were anything but lazy as they flew past so quickly. The trees are already beginning to change colors. The pinecones have been steadily dropping for the past couple of weeks from my trees. I have filled a dozen garbage bags with them and will happily share them.

The movie, "90 Minutes in Heaven," is now showing in our area. This movie is the true story of pastor Don Piper who was pronounced dead after a horrific car crash. Ninety minutes after he was pronounced dead, he miraculously returned to life.

He experienced a long and painful recovery. The book is available for check-out at our library. "The Girl on a Train" has been on the New York Times Best Seller List for 35 weeks; "Go Set a Watchman" has been on that list for the past nine weeks. Lee Child's new book, "Make Me," is number on this list for this week. We hope to have it later this week.

We are pleased that the public use computers are serving our community every day. Students are doing research either on our computers or on their own devices by using our Wi-Fi. Several patrons have been working on their resumes or filling out job applications on line. We just ask that you remember that we are not computer experts and can not always provide the assistance you need.

The Wednesday morning Story Hour with Ms. Jackie has begun again. Join us each Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. for a story and a simple craft. Last week the children made a very cute bear hand puppet.

We have received a large donation of Sci-Fi Fantasy books; some of which will be offered for sale in the library. We need a couple of weeks to get these catalogued and priced.

Currently we have a large number of free and low-priced books for sale -- fiction and non-fiction -- by popular authors. Now is the time to stock up on books to read on those cold winter days ahead.

Remember to save those Labels for Education and Box Tops for Education for the Pea Ridge Schools. A collection box is at the library.
