Music at the Firehouse

GARFIELD -- The final performance of the 2015 season of Music at the firehouse is 7-9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, in the NEBCO Community Center, U.S. Highway 62 and S. Wimpy Jones Road in Garfield.

Music is by The Black Oak Band along with special guest Will Bush, a classically trained violinist with a foot stomp'n fiddler's attitude. If you missed Will back in July, don't miss him this time. Plenty of free parking, room to dance, no admission; but free will donations to NEBCO Fire-EMS graciously accepted.

Annual Turkey Shoot

GARFIELD -- The NEBCO Fire/EMS 22nd annual turkey shoot, rib lunch & outdoor sports expo is set for 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015.

There's the actual turkey shoot, plus bingo, a silent auction, and a "buy-it-now" area. Raffle tickets are available now from NEBCO Fire/EMS personnel and also all day during the event. Prizes including a kayak, 50-inch big screen TV, hotel stays, dinners, bicycles and lots more.

The Garfield Elementary PTO is hosting a dunk tank; there are area vendors and exhibitors with an outdoor activities theme. The rib lunch is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with baby back ribs, pulled pork, beans, coleslaw, dessert and drink, for $9 for adults, $5 kids 10 and under.

Free Flu Shots

GARFIELD -- Free flu shots are offered for Garfield residents ages 18-64.

Shots will be offered from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, by Mercy Mobile Health Unit will be at Garfield City Hall, 14655 S. Wimpy Jones Rd.

Free flu shots are intended for Garfield residents, ages 18-64, with limited financial resources or limited access to transportation.

Registration and identification will be required, but flu shots will be provided at no cost.

The service is by Mercy Hospital Northwest Arkansas.
