Pea Ridge Graphic-Scene

Quick action by Pea Ridge coach Ray Hoback and elementary principal J.D. Ramsey in administering mouth-to-mouth resuscitation has been credited by bystanders with saving the life of a fourth-grade student here last Thursday night. The student, Aaron Dwane Griffith, 9, son of Mrs. Daphne Griffith and the late Henry Griffith, fell an estimated 12 feet at the gym, landing partly on his head. Bystanders said that the youth was not breathing and was blue. He was rushed by Sisco Ambulance Service to Rogers Memorial Hospital and did not fully regain consciousness for about two days.

The first degree murder trial for Alex Montez of Fayetteville and Mrs. Elaine Rogers of Garfield went inching into its ninth day Monday at the Benton County Circuit Court. The case involves the shooting death on Sept. 5, 1974, of John David Walker, 31, of Rogers, at the home of Mrs. Rogers near Codling's Corner. Mrs. Rogers has admitted shooting Walker but she and her defense attorney claim it was in self defense, while the prosecution charges that it was a conspired effort.
