BENTONVILLE -- Pat Adams, justice of the peace for District 6, is running for a third term on the Benton County Quorum Court.

Adams, 60, is a resident of Rogers and self-employed as a general contractor. District 6 includes parts of Rogers, Pea Ridge, Little Flock and the eastern edge of Bella Vista.

Adams said he has unfinished business on the Quorum Court.

"There's the courts facility and the jail expansion," he said. "I think we're done with EMS right now but that's going to come back again at the end of the year when we have to renegotiate all those contracts."

Adams said he thinks the county can settle the basic issues on a new courts building and jail expansion in the next two or three years, even if construction on the projects extends beyond that time.

"We'll know whether or not we're going to do a new courts building by that time," he said. "The jail probably won't be built in the next few years but it'll be well on it's way if it's deemed necessary."

Adams said he enjoys the work of a justice of the peace and wants to continue being active in county government.

"I just enjoy being a JP, I really do," he said. "It's pretty demanding of your time but the reward of seeing something government-run implemented is exciting to me."
