Davis has military heritage

Jock Davis, born in Malvern, Ark., on Oct.12, 1924, served 37 years in active duty and reserve service in the U.S. Army.

After graduation from Prescott High School, Davis entered the Army and served two and a half years in the combat areas of New Guinea and the Philippines. Upon his honorable discharge, Davis entered Arkansas Tech and graduated four years later with a B.S. Degree in business. Davis has served on the Arkansas Tech University Alumni Association, as president for two terms and on its board for about 20 years. He has been elected to Tech's Hall of Distinction, which is the highest honor given an alumni.

Davis has served for many volunteer organizations in the city of Russellville and as president of the Russellville Jaycees.

Davis served 37 years in active duty and reserve service, retiring as a major. Davis has a long heritage in the military -- his father served in World War I, his son-in-law is a retired Army lieutenant colonel and he has three grandsons who fought in the Iraq and Afghanistan areas.

Davis and his wife, Melba have one daughter,"Jibby," a graduate of Russellville High and Ouachita Baptist University.
