Life of Searcy County Woman

Brooks Blevins, professor of Ozarks studies at Missouri State University, will present a program titled "The Ordinary Life of Extraordinary Minnie: A Searcy County Woman Greets the Modern World" at noon Wednesday, Oct. 21, in the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History. Blevins will discuss the life of Minnie Atteberry, a Searcy County farm woman who kept a daily diary from the 1930s into the 1960s. The Atteberry diaries were donated to the Special Collections Department of Mullins Library at the University of Arkansas by Searcy County historian James Johnston in 1993.

Gospel Singing

The Northwest Arkansas Sacred Harp Singers will hold an old-time singing school 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, in the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History. Led by Robert Vaughn of Mount Pleasant, Texas, the singing school will focus on the fundamentals of "Sacred Harp" singing, a traditional style of a capella folk gospel singing that originated in the United States in the late 1700s.

An all-day singing will be held 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, in the First Security Bank community room.

LifeWriters

The Northwest Arkansas Civil War Roundtable will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, in the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History.

Wireless Society to Meet

The Ozark Wireless Society will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, in the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History. The museum is located at 118 W. Johnson Avenue in downtown Springdale.
