Jr. Hawks declaw Lions

Special to The TIMES

The Junior High BlackHawks rolled again with a 22/6 victory over the Junior Gravette Lions Thursday night.

"The offensive line dominated the game," coach Cody Alexander said. "We scored every time we had the ball except twice once getting stopped on a fourth and goal play and then running time out at the end of the game.

"We really leaned on our big guys up front and Carson Rhine had three touchdowns rushing and over 150 yards on the ground. We believed in them so much we went for it on fourth and 2 on our side of the field to run out the time," Alexander said.

Tate Busey kept it on a quarterback run and got the first down and the Blackhawks then got to kneel on the ball a couple times as the remaining time ticked off the clock.

"I'm really proud of Busey, he played like a ninth grader tonight and made a lot of smart decisions. We played our best game of the year and move to 3-0 in conference," Alexander said. "Our linebackers may have played their best game of the season. Our outside linebackers Payton Galbraith and Gavin Warden played lights out."

Defense was led in tackles by Adam Trammell.

The Junior High Blackhawks travel to Prairie Grove this Thursday.
