Home business OKd

In a short Planning Commission meeting, city planners approved a conditional use request from Jennifer Villines who said she is opening an online children's boutique that she will run from her home.

"Will you use more than one room of your home?" city building official Tony Townsend asked.

Villines said she will use only one room of her home at 1107 Mitchell Lane for the business, that she will go to market and anticipates some deliveries from Fed Ex and UPS, but will use the Post Office "mostly."

The second item facing planners was a variance reuqest for setbacks for 825 Harrison Street from Glenda Hyman. The issue was tabled because no representative was present who could answer city officials' questions.

"For some reason that lot has a 20-foot setback all the way around it," Townsend told planners. "There's nothing else in that subdivision that has that kind of set back. He's asking for a 10-foot variance; he actually needs two -- a side and the rear."

"I told him he had to be here," Townsend said of the landowner.

Planners Mat Powers and Zach Hoyt were absent.

Pea Ridge Planning Commission meets at 7 p.m. the first Tuesday of each month.
