D.A.S.H. to Remember

The annual 5K run/walk and 1-mile fun run is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 17, beginning at the Ryan Mondy Memorial Tee Ball field, Weston Street.

The 5K run begins at 8 a.m. The 1-mile fun run begins at 8:45 a.m.

Entry fees are $15 for the 1 mile for 12 and younger, $20 for over 12; $25 for 5K for all ages.

The first 100 5K participants are guaranteed a t-shirt and goody bag.

Lunch for seniors

BRIGHTWATER -- All seniors are invited to attend a weekly Thursday luncheon at 11:30 a.m held at Brightwater United Methodist Church, 14108 E. U.S. Hwy. 62. The cost is $3.

Free Flu Shots

GARFIELD -- Free flu shots are offered for Garfield residents.

Shots will be offered from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, by Mercy Mobile Health Unit will be at Garfield City Hall, 14655 S. Wimpy Jones Road.

Free flu shots are intended for Garfield residents, ages 18-64, with limited financial resources or limited access to transportation.

Registration and identification will be required. The service is by Mercy Hospital Northwest Arkansas.

Soup supper set

LOST BRIDGE -- Homemade soups, bread, dessert and drink will be available for $7 at Lost Bridge Village Community Hall on Whitney Mountain at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25.

The meeting includes a program by Susan Young, outreach director of the Shiloh Museum, Springdale. Young will present the program "The Independent Order of Odd Fellows."

Proceeds from the soup supper benefit the Glade Historical Society and their project of restoring the old Glade Post Office/store which was returned to the Glade Community on July 14, 2014. The building is more than 100 years old and when preserved will allow people to view the Glade Post Office as it was many years ago. The Glade Board members meet monthly and four general meetings are available to the public, and four newsletters are provided of the history of the area. The Glade Community Historical Society is representative of Glade, Pine Log and Garfield communities.
