Autumn activities announced at Library

What a glorious fall we are having. The weather is delightful, the Blackhawks and the Razorbacks won their games over the weekend -- all is right in our world! The library has been busy with many people checking out books, doing research and/or using the computers. October is starting out to be a very busy month with a variety of activities for all ages in our immediate area and across our beautiful state.

The King Biscuit Blues Festival is Oct. 7-10 in Historic Downtown Helena while the 68th annual Original Ozark Folk Festival will be held on those dates in Eureka Springs. The Arkansas State Fair is Oct. 9-10 in Little Rock. I hope some of our 4-H and FFA kids will be attending.

The big event for Pea Ridge is the 27th annual Mule Jump that starts at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10. It's great family fun. Don't forget to get your Mule Jump T-Shirts. If you have not attended a Mule Jump, you really should try and go this year. For information, check out the Pea Ridge Mule Jump on Facebook or stop by the library for a copy.

At 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, Grammy-winning performer John Two Hawks highlights Tipi Talks, a free event at the Museum of Native American History in Bentonville. I was fortunate enough to attend one of his programs in Eureka Springs a few years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Thanks to Library Board member Dottie Adriano for pulling weeds from around the shrubbery at the library. The beds look very nice now. Thanks also to the guys from the Street Department for moving our Handicapped Parking Spot to a safer more accessible spot.

We received a large donation of children's books this past week and are busy getting them processed. Many children's DVDs were donated last week. We are very appreciative of these donations. DVDs remain very popular with our patrons.

Several of our patrons are having some health issues. Just want them to know we are thinking of them and wishing them a speedy recovery. We miss you.

See you at the library!
