Wind causes power outage

From Staff Reports

High wind downed power lines last Wednesday leaving much of Pea Ridge and some of Siloam Springs without electricity.

Carroll Electric Company reported 2,339 meters affected in Pea Ridge and 470 around Siloam Springs. Nancy Plagge, spokeswoman for the company, said at least one broken pole was creating the Pea Ridge area outage that started at about 3 p.m.

Fixing the pole could take two or three hours, Plagge said, so workers tried to feed the electricity around the problem. The Siloam Springs power failure started at about 2:30 p.m. Both outages were attributed to high wind, although the exact cause hadn't been determined Wednesday afternoon, Plagge said. Other single-meter outages were scattered around Bella Vista, Hiwassee and Rogers.

An outage map for AEP-Southwestern Electric Power showed no power failures in Northwest Arkansas on Wednesday afternoon.
