The superintendents of the nation's 368 National Park Service facilities, including Pea Ridge National Military Park, have submitted responses to the Interior Department secretary's request for cuts based on a 1996 budget that is 90 percent of the current budget. Steve Adams, superintendent of Pea Ridge National Military Park, said that $506,000 is what they actually have to operate on this fiscal year. Adams said that he was required to submit reductions which would achieve a fiscal 1996 budget 90 percent of the current budget. That would mean cutting approximately $50,000. "In order to get to the 90 percent funding level, I'd have to cut interpretive services."
