Next Saturday, May 24, Congressman John Paul Hammerschmidt will present in a ceremony scheduled for 4:30 p.m. at the new gym, a Bicentennial flag to Mayor Carl J. (Cotton) Carter, thus officially proclaiming the City of Pea Ridge as an American Revolution Bicentennial Community.
The Pea Ridge National Military Park has waived all entrance fees to the park on Saturday, May 24, in order that both local and area residents and the many visitors here for the Pea Ridge Bicentennial Homecoming may enjoy also touring the park that day.
Traditional folk dancing on the spacious greens surrounding Elk Horn Tavern on the Pea Ridge National Military Park will be portrayed by the Heritage Dancers of Bella Vista on Monday, May 26, in conjunction with this weekend's Bicentennial Program in Pea Ridge.
Two retiring Pea Ridge teachers were honored at a tea Tuesday afternoon by the Pea Ridge PTA in the school cafeteria. The two teachers are Mrs. Bertha Cloyd and Mrs. Jewell Meredith.

A time capsule deposited in the wall of the new Memorial belltower on Pea Ridge campus contains three issues of the Times: Feb. 27, 1985, with the School Board report of acceptance of plans recommended by the committee; March 6, 1985, with the history of Pea Ridge College, written by Billie Jines, chairman of the Belltower committee; March 13, 1985, the history of the bell, also by Mrs. Jines; a copy of a 1901 Pea Ridge College scholarship, provided by Joe Buttry; and a clipping of a picture of the college band provided by Lynn and Olivia Ricketts. The capsule was prepared and sealed by plumber Ray Vest, who is working on the cafetorium. Lettering was done by Margaret Jump. The capsule is inscribed "History of Pea Ridge College and Belltower, July 4, 1985" (date the belltower will be dedicated).
Resurfacing of Arkansas Highway 72 between Pea Ridge and Bentonville was completed Tuesday.

The lights were expected to be turned on this week at the new T-Ball field at Pea Ridge Day Park. The field, their third in the park, was made possible because of the generosity and fan support of Jack and Rachel Goertzen, who have lived next to the park for two years. The Goertzens sold an acre of their land "for very little," Goertzen said, to the Pea Ridge Little League Association.
Approximately 15 parents and high school students attended the Pea Ridge School Board meeting May 16 to challenge decisions the school's appeal board had made pertaining to school attendance policy.

The Pea Ridge High School Class of 2005 graduated in its own style Friday night at the Rogers Expo Center when 63 seniors marched in to "Nice to Know You," by Incubus, a loud, alternative rock number. The highlight of the evening came when high school counselor Randi Jo Hutchison announced scholarships won by the class. The Class of 2005 was awarded $1,175,749 in scholarship money, more than any other class in the history of Pea Ridge High School.
