New displays on view

As I am writing this on Sunday, March 8, 2015, the sun is shining, the temperature is a few degrees above freezing, most of the snow/ice has melted and outside the birds are singing! It gives me hope that spring is just around corner. In a few short months we will be complaining about the heat and humidity!

Having to close the library due to the snow and ice has been hard on our patrons and staff. We hope that is all behind us now and we can get back to normal. Our Saturday hours seem to be working out well for some of you. Approximately 25 people stopped in this past Saturday to check out books, use the computers or to ask about Income Tax Forms. We still don't have any and don't know where to find Federal Income Tax forms. Arkansas State Income Tax Booklets/Forms can be obtained at the Revenue Office -- at least they were available there earlier this year.

One half of our display shelves this month features Boy Scout and Girl Scout related items -- many of the items are vintage. It is certainly worth a trip to the library to look at this very interesting display. Information on Scouting is also available. Thank you Mr. & Mrs. Donnie Ewald for providing such an interesting display. St. Patrick's Day themed books are show cased on the other display unit. Thanks to Lee for putting together another interesting display.

A few months ago, the library hosted an Open House and Book Signing with Karen Akins, author of young adult novels. Her sequel to "LOOP" is due out at the end of March. We are planning an open house in April to celebrate our two-year anniversary and hope to have Ms. Akins with us to sign copies of her new book "TWIST." More information on this in future columns and on Facebook. If you haven't yet read "LOOP" come check it out.

I am trying to read something other than mysteries and true crime books, which are my favorites. I just finished a book by Barbara Delinsky, "While My Sister Sleeps," that I thoroughly enjoyed. That is just one of the many large print books that were recently donated.

See you at the library!
