A day of fun-filled family activities is planned for Saturday, March 7, at Hobbs State Park, Conservation Area as the Friends of Hobbs celebrate the life and extraordinary career of Aldo Leopold, and how he shaped conservation and the modern environmental movement. Leopold is the author of Sand County Almanac.

The day will begin with "Birds and Breakfast," where the public observes University of Arkansas personnel capturing, tagging and then releasing song birds. Free juice and donuts are available for all attendees. The Emmy award-winning documentary film, "Green Fire" will be shown. It chronicles Leopold's extraordinary career, tracing how he shaped and influenced the modern environmental movement. Leopold remains relevant today, inspiring projects all over the country that connect people and land. Activities will include hikes, journaling, planting bushes and shrubs at the visitor center and more.

• 9 a.m.-10:30 a.m.: Birds and Breakfast, Live Song Bird Research Demonstrations

• 10 a.m.-1 p.m.: Dutch oven demonstration

• 2 p.m.: Showing of "Green Fire: Aldo Leopold and a Land Ethic for Our Time"

Location: Hobbs State Park-Conservation Area's visitor center on U.S. Hwy 12 just east of the Hwy. 12/War Eagle Road intersection. Cost is free.

Fly Fishing classes

Those who wish to learn the basics of fly fishing will want to attend one the two Fly Fishing workshops to be held this month at the Hobbs State Park, Conservation Area visitor center. Two hours of instruction will be in the classroom, and two hours will be outside. Participants will learn four basic casts, the six basic types of flies (lures), how to cast and "play" the flies in the water, how to read water, how to wade, how to purchase and assemble your equipment, how to store your equipment, as well as how to tie the four basic knots used by fly fishers. All equipment will be provided.

The workshop will be taught by Sallyann Brown, past recipient of the "Woman of the Year" and the "Federation of Fly Fishers Educator of the Year" awards from the Federation of Fly Fishers, Inc.

When: Sunday, March 15, and Saturday, March 21

Time: noon to 4 p.m.

Where: Hobbs State Park visitor center, Hwy. 12 just east of the Hwy. 12/War Eagle Road intersection.

Spring Break Camp

Spring Break Camp at Hobbs State Park brings the outdoor experience up close and personal. The first of several fun-filled and memory-making nature exploration day camps at Hobbs Park for 2015 runs from Wednesday, March 25, through Friday, March 27. This Day Camp is for nature lovers 9- to 12-years of age with a passion for hiking and spending time outside exploring and learning.

What's included? Hiking, games, live animals, nature-related programs, crafts, snacks, stream studies, a T-shirt, and more. The Day Camps run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for each of three days.

Cost: $50/child + tax for all three days
