Dentist comes to town

A dentist office will open in mid-August if all goes as planned.

Three dentists -- Drs. Jeff Wisener, Darron Cooper and Chris Fergus, who have an office on Horsebarn Road in Rogers -- have purchased the former Pea Ridge Dentist office at 833 N. Curtis Ave., according to Dr. Jeff Wisener.

"We're going to remodel and refurbish it," Wisener said, "and get it ready to go. We're hoping for the middle of August."

The 1,500-square-foot building has been empty for five years, according to city officials.

"Pea Ridge is a growing community. There are good schools. We already have a patient base there," Wisener said. "So, we hope to not only be positioned better to service existing patient base, but serve the needs of other residents of the area."

Wisener, a native of Warren, has been in northwest Arkansas for 18 years. He worked for one year in Siloam Springs before opening a practice in Rogers in 1997. Cooper and Fergus joined the firm in 2001 and 2009 respectively.

Wisener said plans include a fourth dentist joining them and all four taking turns working at the Pea Ridge office as needed.

At this time, plans are to be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, but that will be reevaluated as need determines.

"We do a little bit of everything -- general family dentistry, cosmetic dentistry and, of course, depending on demand, implants," Wisener said. Wisdom tooth extraction may be referred to the Rogers office.

Insurance is accepted and payment plans are available, he said.

"We're super excited that they chose Pea Ridge to be part of their business community," Mayor Jackie Crabtree said. "We really look forward to working with them."

Wisener attended the University of Arkansas and loved the area, prompting him to move to the area. He graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1993 and from the University of Tennessee Dental School in 1997. He has committed himself to excellence by attending hundreds of hours of continuing education, focusing on cosmetic, implants and reconstruction dentistry. He and his wife Becky have been married 18 years and have an 11-year-old son. They have a lake house off Ventris Road and farm/hunting property in Gateway.

Fergus and his wife, Victoria, reside in Rogers and have two children: Wells, 4, and Rowan, 2.

Cooper grew up in Helena, Ark., and graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1994. He graduated from the University of Tennessee Dental School in 2000 and then completed a one-year General Practice Residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Miss. He and his wife, Stacy, have a 13-year-old son, Chase, and an 11-year-old, daughter, Madison.

Wisener said he and his partners are excited about the move to Pea Ridge.

"It's a good thing," he said. "I love the lake, hunting and the vibrantly growing small town atmosphere. It's very similar to where I grew up."
