Pea Ridge Graphic-Scene
Mark Lasater, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Lasater of Pea Ridge, was ordained into the ministry of the United Methodist Church on June 4 during the North Arkansas annual conference in Conway. The Rev. Eugene Franks, North Arkansas Conference Bishop, conferred the ordination on Laster and 11 others.
Mechanical problems at the Graphic-Scene were still not back to normal operation this week. The typesetting machine is still not operational as of pressday.
A surgeon worked for two hours last Wednesday on the editor's pacemaker malfunction to no avail. She was taken back to surgery on Thursday and a new pacemaker was installed differently. Mrs. Jines is home from the hospital but will be unable to work for two weeks.

Pea Ridge City Council approved an ordinance setting a 25 mile per hour speed limit on the city streets. They also heard from the city marshal that Bob Guyll, formerly street superintendent, has been charged with misdemeanor theft.
The City of Little Flock challenged the annexation of property along the east side of Arkansas Highway 94 by Rogers in appealing the decision of the Benton County Court resulting in the annexation action.
The proposed ordinance to create an emergency medical services district to provide funding for the Volunteer Ambulance Service of Northeast Benton County passed the Quorum Court Thursday night. Next step will be a vote on the issue by residents of the district.

Dino and Sharon Collins have restored Pea Ridge blueberry operation which they bought in 1993. The two and a half acres of what used to be a much larger blueberry farm is located across Arkansas Highway 265 from Pea Ridge City Park. They had to clean and prune all the bushes and they started producing in June 1994. There are three varieties of blueberries on their farm. No insecticides are used on the bushes; they are organic. Collins Blueberry Farm is a member of the Arkansas Blueberry Growers Association and the majority of blueberries pick go the association.
Retiring Pea Ridge School superintendent Marvin Higginbottom suggested to the School Board last Thursday that it consider hosting a community meeting to make parents aware of attendance problems. The graduation of a dozen or more seniors was in jeopardy this spring because of unexcused absences.

City leaders, developers and friends gathered Monday afternoon to officially begin work on Leetown Crossing, a commercial development planned for Pea Ridge's secondary downtown. Positioned between Arkansas Highway 94, Ark. Highway 72 and Carr Street, the Leetown Crossing Village Center will offer visitors a diverse array of retail shops, services, office spaces and restaurants.
Four years ago, Boyd McNiel of Pea Ridge began a project that most people would not dare undertake. He decided to publish a book -- not just any book -- but a book he considers to be the truth about the Bible.
May 20, the class of 2005 entered the Rogers Expo Center as students and left as Pea Ridge High School alumni. The graduated set record breaking scholarship totals equaling $1,246,419.
