BELLA VISTA -- Two men are in custody after a failed burglary attempt at a Bella Vista home, according to Bella Vista police.

Franklin Clines, 25, and Austin Burns, 26, were both arrested July 22 on charges of aggravated assault, aggravated burglary, terroristic threatening, kidnapping and battery. Police say they were arrested after attempting to rob a man on July 22 at his residence on Grisham Drive.

Burns lists an address in Seligman, Mo.

Clines of Rogers was also charged with obstruction or interference of emergency medical personnel, according to the Benton County Jail website.

Police responded to a call from Douglas Circle after the victim had escaped his captives, said Lt. Ryan Harmon of the Bella Vista Police Department. The victim had been in an argument with Clines and Burns over jewelry when tensions escalated. The victim was bound and gagged with duct tape and held at knife point, he added.

The victim escaped and ran to a neighbor's house on Douglas Circle, where he told them he had been threatened with a knife and that there was a burglary in progress, according to police dispatch logs. The caller reported that a man with a bloody nose who was in distress was at her door.

The victim knows Clines and Burns, said Capt. Tim Cook of the BVPD.

The arraignments for Burns and Clines are scheduled for 8 a.m. Aug. 31 in Circuit Judge Robin Green's court. They remain in jail.
