Pea Ridge Alumni Day

9 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Saturday, July 11

PRHS cafeteria

The annual Alumni Day reunions, sponsored by the PRHS Alumni Association, bring together graduates of Pea Ridge High School from all years. Also invited are other former students, teachers, administrators, school employees and bus drivers. The Alumni Day Reunion each year recognizes the graduating classes of 75, 50 and 25 years ago. This year those are the classes of 1940, 1965 and 1990. Several prizes will be given away, with drawings each hour.

Coffee and donuts will be available when the High School building and cafeteria are opened at 9 a.m. Saturday morning. Everyone is invited to come for visiting, renewing old acquaintances, catching up on news from old friends and learning about recent developments with Pea Ridge Schools. Before lunch, the Alumni present will elect three new members to the Board of Directors of the Alumni Association, and at 11:30 a.m., a sandwich lunch prepared by the Walmart Neighborhood Market of Pea Ridge will be served.

Each year, several PRHS graduating classes use the Alumni Day weekend to hold their class reunions. The Alumni Association encourages these class gatherings, and is happy to help with arrangements. The Class of 1965 will hold its 50th Year Reunion this year. The Class of 1958 is currently holding a reunion every year. The Alumni Association appreciates receiving updated lists of class members and mailing addresses. PRHS graduating classes have ranged in number from as few as six members in early years to around 120 graduates in recent years.

Alumni returning to Pea Ridge for July 11 will have an opportunity to reminisce by visiting the School Heritage Building on the downtown school campus, as well as the Pea Ridge Historical Society Museum in the old EH Building across the street. Both historical buildings will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 11. Those who attended Pea Ridge Schools in the 1930s will remember the Heritage Building as the Agri/Shop Building. Students from the '40s, '50s and '60s will know it as the School Lunch Room or Hot Lunch Room. It later served as a general classroom, counselor's office, Art Room and as S.E.E.K. program headquarters. The building is leased by the Pea Ridge Historical Society, and operates in conjunction with the Pea Ridge Historical Museum across the street. Displays in the Heritage Building highlight 140 years of Pea Ridge School history.

The Pea Ridge Community Fair will also be going on, and alums are encouraged to participate.
