Majority not always right

Majority not always right

Lesbian, bisexual, gay, transgender, queer: "All of these people are upright citizens; they know the difference between right and wrong." That is a quote that I heard someone say a while back.

Depending upon what source you are reading, back between the 1200s through the 1700s, there were any where from 40,000 to 60,000 witch burnings. The people who did this thought that they were in the right.

Prior to the Civil War, there were hundreds of thousands of people who owned slaves. These people were considered upper class and they also thought that they were in the right.

On June 26, 2015, the Supreme Court of the land of the free declared that people of the same sex could legally marry in all 50 states. They say that because "at this time" the majority of Americans believe that it is the right thing to do.

Here is the issue as I see it. I will be as practical as I can possibly be. Here are a few examples.

A nut and bolt will only work as a unit if you tighten the nut by turning it to the right. If you turn the nut to the left, it will not work as it was designed to work.

A person cannot plug a cord into the wall if it does not have protruding prongs to go into the receiving receptacle.

A boat is not built to fly in the air anymore than an airplane is designed to float around in the ocean.

Automobiles in North America are designed to be driving on the right side of the road. People who drive on the left side of the road will eventually get killed or kill someone else.

These are all practical commonsense conclusions.

Two males each have male sex organs. Two females have each female sex organs. It is not only not physically practical for functionality; it is impractical.

When you see a 5-year-old boy and girl kissing each other, you can see how cute it is. What will you think when you see two 5-year-old boys doing the same thing. It will not be cute anymore.

What happens when an older boy kisses another boy at school and the second boy gets upset and hits the one who kisses him and tells him to leave him alone? That boy that hit the boy that kissed him could then be charged with a hate crime assault.

I once read that a survey was done int he early '60s where 95 percent of those surveyed said that homosexuality was wrong on every level. Today, it is said that nearly 65 percent say it is acceptable. However, many of those who say it is acceptable said that they do not want to have to see it in public.

Maybe those who were hung for sodomy back in the 1600s should have their verdict overturned. Just because the majority of the population believes something is OK does not necessarily mean that they are right.
