Pea Ridge Graphic-Scene

At a meeting of the Pea Ridge Chamber of Commerce the night of Monday, Dec. 30, at City Hall, several members were present to hear Chuck Reed of Mid-America Nursing Centers discuss the possibility of establishing a nursing home in Pea Ridge. Reed said that Mid-America is interested in locating two or three homes in this area, and that Pea Ridge is one town in which they are interested. He said that if such a home is built here, it would be the company's first in Arkansas.

Members of the Garfield City Council are urging all interested citizens to be on hand for the monthly meeting to be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. City Clerk Jane Davis said that those residing outside the city limits, as well as those within the city limits are asked to be present. The council will discuss plans to try to take in additional persons into the city in order to qualify for the location of a branch bank of the Bank of Pea Ridge. Officials of the bank earlier told the council that the plans to establish the branch in Garfield has been temporarily halted by a requirement that the town have a population of at least 250 persons.
