BELLA VISTA -- Award-winning musician Benjamin Del Shreve will be the featured performer for the Artist Retreat Center's Third Thursday House Concert at 7 p.m. Feb. 19 in Bella Vista.
Del Shreve is a double Hall of Fame winner in the Northwest Arkansas Music Awards and holds NAMA's for Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Male Vocalist and Band of the Year. After touring and performing throughout Europe and the U.S., Del Shreve hit the NWA music scene about a decade ago.
He began performing with a group of local players as The Benjamin Del Shreve Band. The group was an instant NWA favorite and played to packed houses wherever they performed. Del Shreve has released three albums--one with a full rock band, one with an all acoustic band and one solo.
Although Del Shreve stills performs with his band, he recently turned most of his attention to writing songs -- and poetry, he's working on a book and performing as a solo artist. A multi-instrumentalist, he uses an electronic technique known as looping that allows him to include tracks he has recorded on his guitar, ukulele, mandolin and Cajun drum during his live performance.
Funneling not only his instrument tracks, but also his vocals through the loop station, Del Shreve said that at times it sounds like "ten of me playing together. It is still a fairly mellow set, but it doesn't lack in entertainment."
Del Shreve's eclectic musical style has been compared to the late Jeff Buckley. The song menu for the concert at The ARC will be Del Shreve originals and a few covers ranging from Springsteen to Garth Brooks and Bob Marley.
