Valentines story, craft hour slated

Saturday was the end of our first month of having the library open on Saturdays. Almost 100 people used the library on the five Saturdays we were open. That's a very good start.

Saturday, the library received a donation of 80 plus large print hardcover books in pristine condition. We are so overjoyed that I don't even have words to express our gratitude. Those books if purchased new would have cost the library upwards of $2,000. Thank you, generous donor. We will begin to get these processed and in the system this week.

A large book order also arrived on Saturday from Barnes & Noble. Those should be processed by mid-week. A few of the titles we ordered won't be shipped until later this month or next as they have not yet been released. I will try to post a list of books received on the Pea Ridge Community Library Facebook Page.

There are a large number of paperback and hardback books either for free or a very low cost available at the library now. Everything from non-fiction to popular best selling fiction, Christian fiction and romance paperbacks -- a very wide range. There are also some children's books in this mix.

Cookbooks seem to be popular this time of the year so come peruse some that are available for check-out or maybe buy one or two that have been donated. The Pea Ridge Community Library Cookbook has some really appetizing recipes -- just good down-home recipes like Grandma used to make. These cookbooks are only $5 each.

Every book we sell brings us a little closer to completing the last 1,200 sq ft. of the building. And you get some really good books to curl up with when the weather is not so good.

There will be a Story/Craft Hour at the library at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14. It will be great Valentine's Day fun for the children.

Don't forget to come see our displays for February -- one section will be decorated by the Girl Scouts; the other will be a library display for Black History Month and Valentine's Day.

See you at the library!
