Truth is timeless

Progressive Thought and Postmodern Christianity appeals to "feel good" thinking and serves as a trap to lead their followers away from a Biblical God and the idea that there can be absolute truth. But if God created (which evolution tries to deny) then God can deliver to us absolute truth that saves us from bombardment of all human uncertainty.

God gave us the Scriptures to have as the authority for all human and spiritual truth, a spiritual yardstick, if you will, by which all teaching and doctrine may be measured. Nothing is truth that does not stand the test of Scripture. (Wait, don't go into outer space over this "narrow-minded" absolute.)

There are many vigorous arguments to this absolute.

"Then why did my Holy Spirit (my professor, my science friends) tell me something different if it isn't to be believed, or followed?"

The belief that the Holy Spirit, for instance, tells us things that fit the modern need, even though it disagrees with a Bible truth, is a belief that permits God to be a liar. Hebrews 6:18 tells us it is impossible for God to lie (see also Titus 1:2 and Numbers 23:19).

Many will respond, "Whoa! I didn't say God is a liar. What He said then was true then, but it may not be true now."

And God would respond, "Don't you believe my truth is true for all eternity?"

In Psalms 100 and verse 5 we find, "For the LORD is good; His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations." His truth endures, does not fade or fail. It is not altered by human changes, or by a new generation's "enlightened" ideas. God's truth is truth, unchangeable. Chapter 117 and verse 2 of Psalms says, "For His merciful kindness is great toward us, And the truth of the LORD endures forever. Praise the LORD!" At no point in the past, in the present, or in the future does God's truth fail. Why? Because, "the truth of the Lord endures forever." If we say that God's truth doesn't apply to this need at this time, then we are saying that God lied in Psalm 117:2.

There will be others who will argue that the Bible "contains" God's word. That leaves the open question, "Who decides what is and what isn't God's word?" Here again we are questioning God. This time we are saying that God had to leave it up to man to discover Him and that He couldn't insure the Absolute Authority to be free of man's impute. (Isa. 55:11; Isa. 46:9-11; Psa. 33:11). The Psalm 33 reference states, "The counsel of the LORD stands forever, The plans of His heart to all generations." Since the "counsel of the Lord stands" it can not be brought down by any other counsel or proclamation. Many have tried to "prove" some part of God's counsel to be in error, but time always reveals that the "proof" instead was in error.

To be continued.
