A head-on crash occurred at 7:46 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, on Ark. Highway 94 at Looney Road near Pea Ridge.
The weather was very foggy as Shasta Vanover, 30, of Rogers, driver of a 2013 Ford Focus, was northbound on Ark. Hwy. 94. Lynn Murphy, 49, of Bella Vista, driver of a 2014 Jeep Wrangler, was southbound on Ark. Hwy. 94.
Witnesses told Cpl. Desmond Benton of the Arkansas State Police that Murphy was tailgating and seemed like she was in a rush. She passed one vehicle and then tried to pass two others when she noticed Vanover coming from the other direction. Both vehicles swerved into the east ditch, and the Jeep struck the Ford and spun it clockwise. The Jeep overturned twice before coming to rest.
The driver of the Jeep was transported to Northwest Hospital. She complained of pain in her right hand, and it was red and swollen, Benton said. The other driver possibly had injuries but was not taken to the hospital. Both vehicles were totaled. Murphy was cited for improper passing.
