Soup supper set
ROGERS -- The sixth annual soup supper fundraiser for snack packs for kids is set for 4:30-7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9. Proceeds provide snack packs for more than 50 children at Elmwood Jr. High in Rogers.
Tribal Winter Gathering
SENECA, Mo. -- The Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma will host the community with its fifth annual Winter Gathering event 4-7 p.m. Jan. 23 in the Eastern Shawnee Tribal Annex Building.
The festivities include wild game tasting, information on hunting and cooking wild game, pelts/feathers of wild game on display, several tribal winter stories will be told and Tecumseh's speech will be translated in Shawnee.
Dinner will include meat gravy, black eyed peas, cowboy bread, pumpkin, potato salad, fry bread, broccoli salad and grape dumplings.
The gathering will be at the Eastern Shawnee Tribe's annex, also known as the old bingo hall next to Bordertown Casino jest west of Seneca on Oneida Street. The celebration marks the appreciation of their Tribal Heritage.
