Police awards initiated

"It is my honor to recognize John Brewer with the Chiefs Award of Inspiration," Police Chief Ryan Walker (left) said. Brewer was joined by Cindy Roughton. Walker said he honored Brewer because: "John has been faced with many challenges in life, however, he decided several years ago that he was going to turn his life around. Since then he has worked tirelessly to improve himself and others every day. We admire his dedication and strong will and consider his life story as an inspiration."

Josh and Jennifer Carney were honored Friday night when Josh was awarded the Chiefs Award of Civil Commendation. Carney was helpful to police officers at a business in town when he witnessed a confrontation between police and a suspect.

Detective Sgt. Brandon Davis received the Chiefs Award of Commendation, Chief Walker said, explaining that Sgt. Davis used initiative and perseverance in locating and processing evidence that was instrumental in solving a crime. "He went above and beyond."
