More mysteries donated

This past week as I walked a visitor through the library I remarked that when we were moving in my thought was "how will we ever fill up all this space." Two and a half years later, we are anxious to complete the "unfinished room" -- the approximately 1,200 square feet of space on the east side of the building. This addition will house a small kitchen area with refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker and sink as well a restroom. The remaining space will allow for tables and chairs to seat 48 people. We can visualize many uses for this room. Of course, my thinking goes to children's activities and a book club but there are many possible uses for this space. We are grateful for each donation we receive toward this expansion.

I was upset when I learned that some teens had kicked in a door at the Pea Ridge Museum and taken the donation box. I have been told that at least one young man had returned some of the money. Typically museums, especially in small towns like ours, operate on a shoe string budget and the cost of repairing/replacing that door can be a big hit to their budget. If you haven't been lately, drop in some Saturday soon. The museum does our town proud!

A donation of a brand new two volume set of The Encyclopedia of Oklahoma History and Culture has been donated. This wonderful set will be available for library use only -- it will not be available for check-out.

Several mysteries by Laura Childs were donated and are ready for check-out. She writes three different series -- Tea Shop Mysteries, Scrapbook Mysteries and Cackleberry Club Mysteries. There are 16 books in the Tea Shop series alone and we are fortunate enough to have most of them now. We do have a few in each of the other two series.

Additionally, this patron donated some books by Bill Crider who writes the Sheriff Dan Rhodes mysteries. We have a few of theses. If you like these, let me know and we will try to add to our selection.

A donation of more than two dozen DVDs were brought it. Most of these are for adults. We are always happy to accept DVD donations. Children's DVDs are always in high demand.

Thank you to the three donors for these items. These donations certainly made my week.

Don't forget the 12th annual Granny's Quilts of Love Auction and Dinner at 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, in the Pea Ridge High School. Raffle tickets are available at the library this week -- $1 each or six tickets for $5.

See you at the library!
