Books in Bloom festival in May

Things are back to normal after the book signing on April 11. We're still very pleased at the turnout. We're gearing up to host Karen Akins next month when she will be signing copies of "Twist," the sequel to "Loop." If you have not read this Young Adult publication, stop by the library and check it out.

It's time to mark your calendars for the 10th annual Books in Bloom Literary Festival in Eureka Springs which is noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 17, at The Crescent Hotel. Meet William Bernhardt, Roy Blount Jr., Kimberly & James Dean, Tess Gerritsen, Amanda Eyre Ward and many other celebrated authors. This is sure to be a great experience.

Library hours

10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays

There was a posting on Facebook last week regarding the "Summer Book Bus" program being instituted by Bright Futures. This bus will make stops throughout our community giving children the opportunity to check out books for summer reading. They will be collecting new and gently used books to stock our "Book Bus" from now until the end of May. Collection bins are located at Arvest Bank, Marvin's, Dye Hards Gym, PR Intermediate School and PR Primary School. I will be contacting Bright Futures to offer the library as a collection point also. This is a wonderful undertaking and they are to be commended for their efforts.

The library just received flyers about the Reading Skills and Speed Reading Programs For Children and Adults being offered through the University of Arkansas Conference Services. Programs are being offered for 4-year-olds to adults. All programs meet once each week at Harding University Northwest Arkansas Professional Center at 901 South 52nd St. in Rogers. Flyers are available at the library.

Come by the library and see what we have to offer. We still have a good selection of free books and we will even give you a bag to carry them home!

We have an ever growing selection Christian fiction, mysteries, romance, etc. in hardback and paperback for sale. Pick up a couple to have on hand for when it's too wet or too hot to work in the yard.

See you at the library!
