Get a good book

It sure was nice to have a beautiful sunny weekend after all the rain the previous weekend. I'm sure the crafters were pleased. Thanks to everyone who stopped by the library's table of books at Derry Camp's swap meet. We didn't make a lot but some books found new homes.

Thursday afternoon we learned that the library did not receive the grant we had applied for. Just not enough money to meet all the requests received. Of course, we are very disappointed but we will continue to submit grant requests where we qualify. We were so hoping to be able to finish the 1,200 square feet remaining in our building early in 2015. Guess we can aim for mid-or late-2015! We are nothing if not optimistic.

I have been using a cane when walking and for those of you who are fortunate enough not to need one, let me tell you how blessed you are! I am well aware that I am not a spring chicken and haven't been for a very long time but when you walk with a cane you become an invisible "old codger." Most people will not hold a door for you but will let you hold it open for them!

Even the doctors I have seen recently have treated me differently or perhaps indifferently. I was hospitalized overnight for A-Fib at the end of July. I had EKGs, X-Rays, scans of all kinds and a Doppler test on my left leg. New medications were prescribed for the A-Fib. My cardiologist referred me to a neurologist for the leg issues who told me he thought "we might try physical therapy and if that doesn't work we can explore back surgery."

Someone told me about Alpha and Omega Therapy Service here in Pea Ridge. What a difference they have made in my life. They are the kindest, nicest, most caring and patient people. Last week I had another A-Fib issue -- at home, not at their facility. Obviously there was no therapy that day but they could not have been kinder or more solicitous. How fortunate we are to have them here in our town.

A trip to the cardiologist resulted in another EKG and the wearing of a heart monitor for a couple of days. Those results won't be available for several days. I just want life to get back to normal!

Only a couple more weeks of our fall/Halloween decorations at the library so hurry in to see them for yourselves. We also have information on preserving the life of your pumpkins and gourds.

Mule Jump T-shirts and caps are available for $10 each.

See you at the library!
