New books in library

Wednesday, October 15, 2014

I am sure there are many of us who are disappointed that Mother Nature didn't cooperate for the 26th annual Mule Jump. Probably no one is more disappointed than the folks who have worked diligently for the past year in the planning and preparation for it. We appreciate your efforts and look forward to better weather next year.

We can't offer you jumping mules at the library but we can offer these new books: "Burn" by James Patterson, "Festive in Death" by J. D. Robb; and "The King's Curse" by Philippa Gregory for the adults. And for the teens: "The Blood of Olympus," Book 5 in the Heroes of Olympus series by Rick Riordan.

If the book you are seeking is on loan please ask to be placed on the wait list. When the book becomes available you will be notified.

A huge donation of children's books were dropped off at the library last week. We are hard at work getting those and some donated DVDs ready for check-out. There are lots of used books for sale and even more for free! When the winter wind is blowing and the snow is falling and you just want to stay in by the fire you will be wishing you had picked up a few of these books!

Library hours are posted at the end of this column, on the front door at the library, and on the Pea Ridge Community Library Facebook.page. Please make a note of these so that you do not make a trip to the library only find that we are closed.

Six public use computers are available for use for one hour on a first-come first-serve basis. The library staff can only provide limited assistance to a user. We love our patrons and do our best to provide the best service possible; but we are not always able to do what you ask or provide the extra assistance you may need.

Please remember that we close promptly at 8 p.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays and at 6 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays. The computers shut down at those times so please plan your visits accordingly so you can complete your work before the computers lock you out.

If a patron owes a fine and/or needs to pay for a lost or damaged library item their account is marked as inactive and that patron will not be able to check out materials or use the computer until restitution is made.

See you at the library!
