Click it or ticket campaign to begin

From Staff Reports

The Benton County Sheriff's Office will team up with other state and local law enforcement agencies across the country to crack down on seat belt violations.

The 2014 Thanksgiving "Click it or Ticket" enforcement campaign will begin Nov. 24 and run through Nov. 30. Sheriff deputies will work continuously to enforce all laws, including Arkansas mandatory seat belt law, and will strive to keep the roads in Benton County safe to travel.

During the 2012 Thanksgiving holiday, there were 301 traffic deaths nationally reported. Sixty percent of those deaths were occupants not wearing their seat belt. The state of Arkansas reported 10 of those deaths and over 200 injuries.

Seat belts save lives and reduce the risk of injuries. For information on "Click It or Ticket," visit www.TrafficSafetvMarketing.gov or contact the Arkansas Highway Safety Office at (501) 618-8136.
