Book signing set at Open House

Exciting things are happening at the library. We will hold our annual Christmas Open House and first book signing event in our new location on Tuesday evening, Dec. 9 between the hours of 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. Young adult author, Karen Akins will be here to sign copies of her new book "LOOP." Ms. Akins lives in Bentonville, Ark., where she writes humorous, light, young adult science-fiction.

The time and date of the annual Christmas Open House was moved to coincide with the book signing. Come by, meet Ms. Akins and enjoy some light refreshments.

We are pleased that the City Council approved our proposed budget for 2015. While it is true our budget has doubled this year, it is due solely to the hope that we will receive a grant to complete the multi-purpose room.

The council members requested we stay open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday and we are pleased to be able to do this. We will begin a trial run starting Jan. 3 and will run through the end of March. Patron usage will determine if these hours continue.

Several new releases are on order including "Full Dark, No Stars" by Stephen King, "The King's Curse" by Phillipa Gregory, "Deadline" by John Sandford, "The Lost Key" by Catherine Coulter, John Grisham's "Gray Mountain," "The Escape" by David Baldacci, "Hope to Die" by James Paterson and "Betrayed" by Lisa Scottoline. We are hopeful these will arrive by Dec. 1.

Wishing you a very Happy Thanksgiving!

See you at the library!
