Musings before holidays

Life is what happens when you are busy making other plans.

The magazines are making fun of the Xmas letters again. But, I really enjoy them. How else would I know about your activities and your grandchildren and greats and send those photos! There will always be some one thinner than me or prettier or richer but I want to know it and I'm very aware that a lot of you keep up by Facebook. But, keep it up! This is family!!!

We are forecast for a wet cold winter. Bring it on! We know there is always spring just down the road!

The first time that I drove past a cemetery after dark, the solar lights freaked me out, but now I like the idea. The light I received for Christmas one year was the ugliest frog I've ever seen and his shell was an even uglier green. I finally threw him up under the deck where he can't get any sun.

A newspaper says it takes 12 hours for a meal to digest. One time, when I was in a hospital for testing, I found out it takes 12 to 15 minutes for me for a glass of water to pass through my system, if your system is cleaned out.

Thanksgiving is at my house and again, the dinner is the Sunday before Thanksgiving. So many of them have so far to drive and so many in-laws and places to go, it works better. I'm just glad they are thoughtful and make the effort to put their feet under Grandma's table.

I'm an optimist, so I enjoyed this from a magazine: "In the long run, the pessimist may be proved right, but the optimist has a better time on the trip."

It's a busy time at the Wellness Center and most of my garden volunteering right now is mulching. We all do appreciate Bob Webb from Pea Ridge. He is volunteering to be our exercise instructor while our regular one is on vacation. That's a lot of volunteering with three hour-long classes on every Tuesday and Thursday.

I decided I needed to clean house a little before the holidays and started by cleaning the ceiling fans. By the time that stuff had flown all through the house, I really needed to clean. That's a mess!

I'm looking forward to the state playoff football game. See ya' there!

And, also the community Thanksgiving dinner is on Nov. 22. That always makes me think of Ruth Talburt. She always made sure I knew about it.

We are all hoping that the environmental people can figure out who has been dumping the used tires on Sugar Creek roads.
