To be Christian

As Christians, we count ourselves as followers of Christ.

As Christians, we see it as our mission directive to tell others about Christ. I for one, as a pastor, Christian, and a teacher in the public school system feel the tenuous pull and tug of what it means to do what is right. However, if you look at the life of Jesus and his message (and that is if you really read it in the Bible) you will find that his message concerns all about the poor and disenfranchised.

As we look at the recent political results of last week's election, if you need some kind of report card from which to judge who is doing the right thing in Washington from a Christian perspective, look no further than what Jesus preached -- and that is "how do you treat the poor and disenfranchised?" It's what makes Jesus so revolutionary. We really have trouble seeing our world this way. Read it. It's what the Bible says.

How DO we treat those among us who are poor and disenfranchised?
