Many new books on shelves for summer reading

What a beautiful weekend we had! Hope all the mom had a wonderful Mother's Day! Isn't it nice to see all the flowers blooming? We have a miniature rose bush that is covered in tiny yellow buds; the azalea produced more blooms this year than all the other years combined, and the peony bushes are beautiful. I received a beautiful hydrangea plant for Mother's Day that I hope to get in the ground soon.

Congratulations to Beth Ash. She graduated on Saturday from Arkansas Tech. Some school will be very lucky to have her on their staff. And the library is lucky to have her head up our Summer Story Hour again this year. Starting today, Wednesday, May 14, Beth will preside over the story/craft program between 10:30 a.m and 11:30 a.m. We are pleased that she's able to volunteer again.

I posted two pictures on Facebook of the Optimist Club display in the library but part of each picture was cut off! I don't know what happened and don't know how to remove the pictures and try again! You really need to come by and see the display. And maybe someone can give me some pointers on posting pictures on Facebook.

We have many new DVDs (new to the library) on the shelves. We have had many children's DVDs donated. Very pleased to see so many parents and children checking them out.

Lots of new books are available including "Chestnut Street" by Maeve Binchy, "I've Got You Under My Skin" by Mary Higgins Clark; "Missing You" by Harlan Cobin, "Carnal Curiosity" by Stuart Woods, and "Otherwise Engaged" by Amanda Quick. Did you know that Amanda Quick is just one of three names currently being used by best-selling romance author Jayne Ann Krentz? She also uses the name Jayne Castle.

On order and expected to arrive in a week or so are the following: "The Target" by David Baldacci, "The Collector" by Nora Roberts and "Natchez Burning" by Greg Iles. According to the New York Times, author Greg Iles reworked this novel after a car crash left him in a coma for eight days!

We have many new children and teen books. Bring the kids in to get some good books to help them retain their reading skills over the summer. And don't forget the Summer Reading Program that runs July 7-24.

See you at the library!
