Miss Rodeo of the Ozarks to read to children

Exciting things are happening at the library this week!

We are so pleased that Kelsey Parmenter will be at our library between 10:30 and 11 a.m., Thursday, March 27, to read to the children. Miss Parmenter is the 2013 Miss Rodeo of the Ozarks. She is the daughter of Christy Brown and Brian Parmenter of Pea Ridge and is a 2011 graduate of Pea Ridge High School. She is a junior at the University of Arkansas majoring in Agricultural Business, Marketing and Management. With Kelsey's busy schedule, we are fortunate she is able to do this. Parking is limited but I feel sure The Ridge Church and the Church of Christ would not object to your use of their lots. Please do not park in front of Collier's Drug Store.

The library is receiving so many book donations that it is impossible to keep up! We have had lots of children's books donated, for kindergarten through third-grade students, as well as a large number of adult fiction and non-fiction. Books that were ordered a week ago are beginning to arrive including several large print editions. Jeffrey Archer's "Be Careful What you Wish for" and "Killer" by Jonathan Kellerman are just two of the adult fictions to arrive. "The Finisher" by David Baldacci is a new teen book. Some new books by Christian fiction writers and a few new releases by romance writers round out our purchases. A number of new children's books will be arriving shortly, as will a few new children's DVDs.

Local and Ozark non-fiction books are very popular right now. Civil War and World War II books are always of interest.

We may be able to begin our Children's Story and Craft Hour as early as mid-May! We hope to have a questionnaire form and sign-up sheet in the library by early April. If the weather cooperates, it may be possible to have some sessions in our newly-fenced back yard.

This is the last full week of the Granny's Quilts of Love display in the library. Be sure to stop by and see some of their work and learn about the history of this group of dedicated ladies. It has been nice to have their work on display this month and we look forward to the April display by Pea Ridge Historical Society.

Our first anniversary in this building is fast approaching. We have grown far faster than any of us dared dream. Thank you community for making that happen.

See you at the library!
