Peter Harris spent his 14th birthday working on his Eagle Scout award.

Harris, the son of Nicole and Steve Harris of Pea Ridge, said he wanted to "beautify" the school area.

"It's a beautiful school. I wanted to beautify the outside," he said, adding that he spoke with school superintendent Rick Neal for help in deciding where to work. Together, they selected the area beneath the flag pole in the parking lot in front of Pea Ridge High School.

A member of Scout Troop 2144 led by Scout master John Sullivan, Peter was joined by fellow Scouts Bryan Sullivan, Aaron Miller, Daniel Pluenneke, Kamren Barrows, Seth Rippetoe and Connor Cooley and adults including Sullivan, Nicole Harris, Joe Miller, Jason Pluenneke, Pat and Larry Rippetoe, Nicole Wise and Lee Stidham in working Saturday, March 22.

Harris said he sought and received donations of concrete and flowers from Lowe's and Home Depot and he gathered the rocks from a friend's yard.

"I have to lead ... I have to get community service hours," Harris said, explaining part of the process in earning the Eagle Scout award.
