Pea Ridge elementary schools were well represented at the 15th annual Arts Center of the Ozarks Celebrate Art exhibition and competition.

The young students claimed first place awards in four of the six grades entered. The art contingent was led by fourth-grade student, Ava Little's tempera painting "Girl in the Moonlight" which was awarded the second place overall distinction among all artists kindergarten through eighth grade, along with a first place ribbon in the fourth-grade division.

Brooke White's crayon and watercolor drawing of a fruit basket took top honors in the kindergarten division, while second-grader Alex Garcia took home the blue ribbon for his crayon and watercolor drawing entitled "Time to Go." Fifth-grade student Caliber Landis rounded out the first place finishers for Pea Ridge with an impressionistic tempera painting of a guitar.

Kailynda Hackler took second place in the first grade division with her tempera painting of a barn, with Leah Gibby claiming third place in fourth grade for a self portrait, while kindergarten student, Zoeyanne Timmons was the third place award winner with her tempera painting of a horse.

The artworks will be on display at the Arts Center of the Ozarks for the rest of March. The ACO is located on South Main Street, two blocks from Emma Street in downtown Springdale.

Currently, several more artworks have been submitted to the "Wildlife in Arkansas" statewide art exhibition and competition to be held Friday, May 2, in Little Rock. In addition, Pea Ridge Elementary School has once again been invited to put on an exhibition of student art at the Gilcrease Museum of American Art in Tulsa, Okla., for later this spring.

For exhibitions closer to home, both the Primary and Intermediate Schools are planning, through the PTO organization, to host art exhibition nights in April. Samples of art from every student will be put on display in an evening event.
