Musings, music, miscellaneous thoughts

When my Mothers' Day cards started to arrive, I opened each one and took time to admire each card and the kid that had taken time to select it. The youngest grandson informed me that they weren't to be opened until the very day. Ever thought of that? Can I, or will I, wait?

I ate dinner at a fast food place and late that afternoon, all evening and all night there was a word that I couldn't think of. When I awoke the next morning, there it was -- hush-puppy!

I spent several days dreading calling a company to clean out the septic tank. The company from 10 years ago wasn't in business any more. What a pleasant surprise. Neat, quick, clean, no odor. What a relief! And, it's done!

These are a few things I jotted down this month. My church pew partner Laura Regn moved to Florida.

The phone number to stop the unwanted calls is 1-888-382-1222. They tell me it will take about 30 days for them to stop and I don't know about political calls.

Helen Brown and Imogene Stanford had birthdays this month.

I jerked the weed whip around and cut the toe out of my tennis shoe.

I cut my fingernails so short I had trouble picking up jig saw pieces.

J.C. Carter and Joni Mellor also had birthdays.

Avoca has a new Dollar General.

Marg Houseworth's family brought her from Texas so that we who loved them could hug her again!

What has happened to music? The songs on my youngest family member's iPod just sound like noise! Where's the melody and the pleasing sounds? Of course, that's what my folks said in the '40s about rock.

The 93-year-old veteran who re-parachuted into Normandy last week said it right, he did it to show that you don't have to sit and die just because you get old. Yeah!

Don't throw away your SWEPCO Save the Ozark signs. That is not over yet!!!
