For the sixth consecutive year, Pea Ridge Elementary School artists are being honored by as they are featured in a special month long exhibition at the Gilcrease Museum of American Art in Tulsa, Okla. The show opened June 23 and will run through July 20.

The only out-of-state school to ever put on an exhibition in the world-renowned museum that was founded by oil magnate and philanthropist Thomas Gilcrease, Pea Ridge is the only school to display in six successive years. Twelve schools are chosen each year to have their art shown at the institution located in northwest Tulsa.

In years past, art teacher John McGee selected examples of art from among the student work completed throughout the year to be included into the show. This year, local elementary students worked on making art especially for the museum, with art subjects dealing with the Western experience.

"We have never previously made art just for inclusion into what has become our annual show in Tulsa," McGee said, "and museum curator Deborah Burke was very pleased with the results as I have emailed her works as I accumulated them for the exhibit."

Fifty students from kindergarten through fifth grade rendered the work now on display with the artists to be honored at a special artists reception at 2 p.m. July 19 at the Gilcrease.

The students whose work is included in the gallery are:
