Disney Humphrey, a student from Pea Ridge High School, was selected to attend the 2014 Arkansas Governor's School hosted at Hendrix College.

Humhrey, daughter of Kathy Humphrey, was selected for the program based on her application, audition and teacher recommendations. The Governnor's School runs from Sunday, June 8-July 19.

Selection for Governor's School is open to rising seniors based on a combination of ability and interest and is highly competitive. This year, the Governor's School received more than 600 applications from 109 schools, representing 46 counties. 400 students were selected to attend. The six-week intensive program is in its 35 year.

While attending Arkansas Governor's School, Humphrey will spend an intensive six weeks focusing her studies in the discipline of drama where she will enjoy "being someone I'm not, even for a little while." She plans to continue her studies in drama throughout high school and college and dreams of being the next George Lucas. In addition to her interest in drama and theater, Ms. Humphrey is active in her church youth group, National Honor Society, and the Gifted and Talented program.
