Reading contests end this week

Last week was not only exciting but historic as well as the city welcomed Neighborhood Market. I attended the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Wednesday morning and thought it was pretty impressive. I also thought it was very nice that they gave donations to the Pea Ridge Police and Fire Departments as well as to Bright Futures and the Ministerial Alliance.

Story Hour was lead by Ms. Jackie who read a story to the children and then helped them make a craft involving blue and white craft paint! We ran out of wipes but the moms were able get everyone cleaned up. Thank you, Ms. Jackie, for doing such a good job at the story hour.

The Summer Reading Program at the Library ends Thursday, July 24. All log sheets must be turned in to the librarian by 6 p.m. that day. Log sheets left in the drop box after 6 p.m. will not count. The Subway-sponsored reading program is also doing very well. Several children have received two or more certificates for a free child's meal at Subway.

The library has three picnic tables with benches for use with our children's programs, etc. These will allow us to have the Summer Reading Program party at the library. We are looking for sponsors to help defray the cost of these. Any business or individual who is interested may contact the library at 451-8442 for more details.

A number of new releases are on order and should arrive this week. We were able to purchase some large print books last week at the book sale at the Wellness Center. I just learned that Jan Karon will have a new Mitford book out in September. Don't know if this will feature Father Tim. I will be sure to place an order for a copy!

On a personal note, I want to thank everyone for their concerns and prayers when my grandsons had some health issues last week. They are improving and should be back to normal in a few days.

See you at the library!
