Granny's Quilts of Love

Granny's Quilts of Love met at 9:30 a.m. June 17 at Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church in Pea Ridge. There were 20 members and two guests -- Kathy Setser and Demi Hewgley-- present.

Mary Margaret Webb opened the meeting and prayer was given by Nancy Davis.

The total number of quilts made is 17,800. The ladies cut 160 quilts kits.

Members of the club were saddened by the loss of their dear Granny and friend, Marjorie Crowder. Marjorie was one of the co-founders of Granny's Quilts of Love. She will truly be missed. Their prayers are with her husband, Dean Crowder, and family.

Donna Beaver talked about the plans for the dinner and auction to be held Aug. 23 at the Pea Ridge High School cafeteria.

The dinner starts at 5 to 7 p.m. and the auction from 6:30 to 9 p.m. The dinner includes: pulled pork sandwich, baked beans, coleslaw, pickle, chips, homemade dessert and drink. The cost is: Adults $6, Kids $4, children 2 and under free. Club members will sell raffle tickets for $1,000 cash and a Bosch dishwasher.

Raffles tickets can be purchased at Arvest and Community First banks in Pea Ridge later this month.

The club's next meeting will be 9:30 a.m. July 15 at Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church in Pea Ridge located at 1300 N. Davis.

This meeting will be to finalize plans for the dinner and auction, so it is important for all members to attend.

Glade Community Historical Society

The Glade Community Historical Society is hosting a free concert with Still on the Hill at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 27, at the Northeast Benton County Volunteer Fire/EMS Dept. Community Center, U.S. Hwy. 62/South Wimpy Jones Road, Garfield.

Everyone is invited to hear the story in song of the Beaver Lake watershed, its history and its people, including the community of Glade, which was located in what is now the bottom of Beaver Lake. The first 100 persons in attendance will receive a free copy of Still on the Hill's new CD "Once a River."
